Chicago - Dot-com veteran Jason Calcanis, the founder of Weblogs Inc. who recently left his position with AOL's Netscape division, announced that he has joined venture capital firm Sequoia Capital as an "entrepreneur in action," TechCrunch.com reported.

Such a role is usually taken by an entrepreneur who will work on his or her own start-up company while advising the firm on other investments. Menlo Park, Calif.-based Sequoia's recent activity includes a windfall from its investment in YouTube, which was acquired by Google for $1.65 billion.
