Gracenote Signs Publishers Warner/Chappell, EMI for Web Lyrics Database

Emeryville, Calif. - Gracenote, a provider of CD identification technology and related services, announced on Wednesday that it has signed agreements with Warner/Chappell Music and EMI Music Publishing, to add hundreds of thousands of new song lyrics to its Gracenote Lyrics online database.

The new agreements mean Gracenote has now licensed lyrics from all five major music publishers. Additional deals signed with independent publishers ABKCO Music, The Bob Dylan Music Company, Disney Music Publishing, Ice Nine Publishing and Windswept Holdings bring the total number of participating publishers to more than 80.

Gracenote expects the first publicly-available online lyrics service to launch in early 2007, enabling digital music retailers, mobile providers, search engines, music portals, and consumer electronics manufacturers to offer legal access to an accurate and comprehensive lyrics catalog.
