Redmond, Wash. - Nintendo of America announced this week that the company's Wii and DS video game systems accounted for 55% of all game system sales during the month of November, according to data from NPD Group.
November was the first month in which the Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 were all available at retail. Nintendo sold 600,000 Wii consoles in eight days following the console's launch on Nov. 19, while the DS sold 920,000 units and its Game Boy Advance sold 642,000 units during November. When GameCube sales are added, Nintendo sold more than 2.1 million of the 3.9 million game systems purchased during the month.
