Santa Monica, Calif. - KCRW, the Southern California public radio station, has announced that it will webcast the first U.S. live performance in nearly three decades from singer/songwriter Yusuf -- formerly known at Cat Stevens.

After converting to Islam in 1978, Stevens left the music world until this year; a new album from the artist was released last month. The performance that will air on host Nic Harcourt's "Morning Becomes Eclectic" daily morning show will be recorded on Dec. 19 in New York, and will be broadcast on-air and simultaneously online on Thursday, Dec. 21, at 11:15 a.m. Pacific time.

"We've been working on making this happen for almost two years since Yusuf released his 'Indian Ocean' single for victims of the 2004 Tsunami and began recording 'An Other Cup,'" said Harcourt. "I'm honored that Yusuf said yes to a performance on KCRW."
