Palo Alto, Calif. - Peerflix, an online DVD marketplace where users can trade their unwanted DVDs with other members, announced on Monday that it has launched a new feature that gives the consumers the additional option of receiving cash for their DVDs.

Members on Peerflix trade DVDs directly with other members, with the company charging $0.99 for each DVD received. Now, instead of accruing "Trade Cash" for swapped DVDs on their Peerflix accounts -- for use toward future DVD trades -- members can opt to receive a cash payment directly from Peerflix.

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Peerflix also announced on Monday that it has been awarded a patent for exchanging goods online, which the company said "extends beyond DVDs to include any items that lend themselves to being swapped, and is not limited to the exchange of like items."
