Reuters Debuts Free, Ad-Supported Mobile News Video Service in U.S.Authored by Mark Hefflinger on December 18, 2006 - 11:36am.
New York - Global news agency Reuters on Monday announced the launch of a free, ad-supported mobile news video service in the U.S., the first such service from a major news organization.
The service will offer breaking news and business video segments. Video will be optimized for viewing on smartphones like the Nokia E62, Palm 700w and Blackberry Pearl. Reuters plans to begin selling pre-roll ads on its mobile video in early 2007. "We've seen an enormous increase in traffic to our mobile site in 2006 and have successfully sold mobile advertising to blue chip advertisers," said Reuters Media general manager Stephen Smyth. "The opportunities for mobile video advertising are very exciting as consumers adopt more sophisticated phones that support video." Related Links: http://www.mobile.reuters.com |
