Tokyo - Akamai, a provider of content delivery network services, announced on Tuesday that its Japanese unit has signed deals with Sony and Nintendo, to speed delivery of game content for online services for the PlayStation 3 and Wii, respectively.

Both next-generation consoles from Sony and Nintendo offer gamers the ability to download games and other related content off the Internet. Akamai also provides content delivery network services for Microsoft, Apple and McAfee.
