Salt Lake City, Utah - Fonix, a developer of speech recognition and text-to-speech technologies, on Wednesday introduced a new version of its VoiceIn voice recognition application designed specifically for karaoke game developers.

"In the past, karaoke games have only analyzed a singer's pitch and timing," said Fonix Games vice president Tim K. Hong. "By utilizing Fonix voice recognition technology, the game can now also analyze how well the player sings the words of the song. This function allows game developers to add another layer of accuracy to their scoring systems." The new technology is available for Xbox, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and Windows development platforms.
