Commonwealth Capital Ventures, a Waltham-based venture capital firm focused on early-stage technology businesses, has named Elliot Katzman as a general partner in the firm. Previously, Katzman was a general partner at Kodiak Venture Partners, where he focused on investments in software, Internet, and new media companies. Prior to that, he spent more than twenty years as a senior executive at various software companies. He founded and led Myteam.com, a direct marketing and new media company that merged with The Active Network and before that was CFO at SolidWorks.

IDC, a Framingham-based provider of technology industry research and analysis, has named Karsten Weide as its director of digital marketplace and new media research. Weide previously founded the U.S. affiliate of MediaAnalyzer, a European online market research company specializing in advertising research.

Exent Technologies
, a San Francisco-based developer of technologies that help companies monetize PC and video games, on Thursday named longtime Intel executive Alan Snodgrass as its new president. Snodgrass spent the past 12 years with Intel, most recently establishing the business development organization for the company's Digital Home Group.
