Brazilian Judge Reverses Countrywide Ban on YouTube

Sao Paulo, Brazil - A Brazilian judge on Tuesday reversed a countrywide ban on the video-sharing site YouTube, which he had enacted last week in order to prevent users from viewing an intimate video featuring a Brazilian model and her boyfriend at the beach, the Associated Press reported.

The judge had ordered a ban only on the specific video -- which features supermodel Daniela Cicarelli and her boyfriend, banker Renato Malzoni -- after the couple sued, but Internet service providers said it was impossible to successfully block one video and instead blocked the entire YouTube site.

The video gained popularity over the weekend after press reports of the Brazil-wide YouTube ban, and was subsequently posted on a number of other video sites.

Sao Paulo state Supreme Court Justice Enio Santarelli Zuliani on Tuesday asked Internet service providers in the country to reinstate access to YouTube.

Wrong!

It is entirely incorrect to say that Zuliani ordered the complete blocking of YouTube. If you look at the notice from Telefonica, you see that it cites an order issued under the signature of another judge entirely. Wherein lies a whale of a tale. You have been disinformed See my post on the topic here.
