San Jose, Calif. - eBay, the Internet auction giant, is close to a deal to acquire San Francisco-based online ticket reseller StubHub, The Wall Street Journal reported in its online edition Wednesday.

The deal, which still must be finalized, reportedly would be worth more than $300 million. The acquisition would greatly enhance eBay's ticket marketplace, which currently competes with StubHub, a company that last year sold more than $400 million worth of concert, event and sports tickets.

Both companies declined to comment to The Journal.
