London - The BBC said on Thursday that it plans to launch online social networks centered on its most popular brands, like "Top Gear" and "BBC Good Food," Reuters reported.

The British broadcaster's website claims around 14.5 million unique users per month, the company said. A BBC Worldwide spokeswoman told Reuters there is no specific timeline for launching the social network sites.

"If appropriate social networking opportunities arise, then we would look at them very seriously, because it's a growing area of business that we're not particularly in at the moment," the spokeswoman told Reuters. "The teen part of this (trend) might have reached capacity, but there might be other communities that we could explore given the brand and our existing online presence."
