San Francisco - The Casual Games Association, an industry trade group of developers and publishers of casual online games, and casual games editorial site Gamezebo on Friday announced the nominees for the first annual Zeebys, which will recognize the best casual games of the year.

"Casual Games are a multi-billion dollar industry in the U.S. and around the world, and this unique, accessible art form demands a tailor made form of recognition," said Gabe Zichermann, chairman of the awards committee.

In addition to peer-reviewed awards, People's Choice Awards will be handed out in six categories, including Casual Game of the Year. Nominees for the award, which gamers may vote on through Jan. 31, include "Bookworm Adventures" (PopCap Games); "Cake Mania" (Sandlot Games); "Diner Dash 2" (PlayFirst); "Lumines II" (Q Entertainment); "Mystery Case Files" (BigFish Games); and "Super Collapse 3" (GameHouse/RealNetworks).

A full list of nominees in all categories is available at a link below. Winners will be announced at the CGA Europe: West Amsterdam Conference on Feb. 8.
