Games Search Engine Wazap Raises $7.9 Million, Plans U.S. Expansion

Berlin - Wazap, an online search engine for video games, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $7.9 million in its second round of venture capital financing, led by Partech International.

Berlin-based Wazap launched a Japanese version of its video game search engine in 2004. The site, which indexes online information on PC, console and online games, now claims 70,000 subscribers. Wazap also launched in Germany and China in 2006.

Wazap will use the funds for its planned expansion into the U.S. market. The company is currently opening a U.S. headquarters on the West Coast. Wazap also plans to expand into the U.K. and France within the next year.
