New York - Music Nation, an artist development company that hosts online music video competitions, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $5.5 million in its first round of venture capital financing, led by Greylock Partners and Point Judith Capital.Founded in April 2006, New York-based Music Nation plans to launch its first three online music video competitions later this month. Three artists across the rock, pop and urban genres will win a recording contract with Epic Records, a unit of major label Sony BMG. Music Nation also launched a joint venture record label with Epic -- Original Signal Recordings -- which will find and develop unsigned acts beyond the music video competition.
