Mary-Kate Olsen and Ashley Olsen’s Dualstar Entertainment Group has hired online executive Lee Barth as Vice President of Digital Media to manage Dualstar’s online division which includes mary-kateandashley.com, sprousebros.com and the recently launched e-commerce site, shopmary-kateandashley.com. Barth will report to EVP Jill Zimmerman. Previously Barth worked at Loyalty Systems, a provider of consumer loyalty programs for professional sports leagues.

Sun-Times Media Group today announced John J. Martin has been named Vice President of Advertising. Martin was most recently served as Vice President and General Manager of WBBM-FM in Chicago, a division of CBS Radio. Before WBBM-FM, Martin founded and was president of Converge Media, which assisted radio broadcasters with integration of on-air and Web-based assets.

Fox Filmed Entertainment (FFE) announced today the promotion of Dean Hallett to Executive Vice President, Operations Strategy and Chief Financial Officer. In his new role, Hallett will expand his responsibilities to provide strategic direction and operational guidance to all FFE divisions. Previously, Hallett served as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of FFE. Prior to joining Fox, Hallett was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for The Walt Disney Studios (TWDS), a position he had held since January 2000.

Assuming a number of duties Hallett performed in his previous role will be Jane Waxman, Senior Vice President of Planning and Control.

Battery Ventures, a venture capital and private equity firm focused on technology, on Thursday named Mike Scanlin as a Partner in its Menlo Park office. Scanlin, who most recently spent four years with Sierra Ventures, will focus on investments in mid- to later-stage technology companies. Battery's Menlo Park office opened in 1995 and is currently investing a $450 million fund.

ARTISTdirect, a digital media entertainment company, today announced that Jocelyn Glei has joined the company as Senior Managing Editor. In this Santa Monica-based role, Glei will be responsible for developing new editorial content and program initiatives on ARTISTdirect.com, a destination site for independent music. In addition, she will assume responsibility for hiring and managing a team of writers and editors. Glei joins the firm from Flavorpill, an online publisher that covers cultural news and events.
