Philip Rowley the chairman and CEO of AOL Europe who helped turn around the company's sagging fortunes earlier this decade, has retired, Dulles-based AOL said on Monday. Rowley, who led AOL Europe into profitable territory in 2003, will stay with the company for the next few months to help with the transition. AOL has named a pair of executives to take over his roles.

The company on Monday named Maneesh Dhir to head its international operations. Dhir, who will carry the title of executive vice president, will work from the company's offices in India, overseeing the growth of AOL's international portals and reviewing new overseas business opportunities in Europe, Asia and the Americas. He most recently served as AOL's senior vice president and country manager in India, and previously served as the vice president and general manager of Netscape. AOL also has named Dana Dunne as the head of AOL Europe, reporting to Dhir. Dunne has worked in several European countries for most of the past 15 years, most recently as the president of Belgium-based Belgacom.

LexisNexis, a provider of web-based research services, on Monday named Catherine Morales as its senior vice president for the DC-based government and academic markets. Morales most recently served as the vice president of CGI Federal, a subsidiary of CGI-AMS, and previously worked at the Library of Congress for several years.

TurnHere, a digital media company specializing in online video, on Monday named Jim Diaz as its COO. Diaz most recently served as the senior vice president of business development and sales for Turn Inc., an automated targeting online advertising network. He previously also served as senior vice president and general manager of the AJInteractive division at Ask Jeeves.

AllBusiness.com, a provider of online information and resources for small businesses, on Monday named Kathy Yates as its new CEO, replacing Peter Horan, who is leaving to become the CEO of IAC media and advertising. Yates has been the company's COO since mid-2005, and previously served as the president and COO of MarketWatch.com.

Tvia, a leading provider of digital display processors, today announced that Ben Silva, Vice President of Sales, has resigned effective Jan. 18. The company is conducting a search for a replacement, but in the interim, the sales organization will report to Eli Porat, the company’s CEO.

Frank N. Magid Associates, a marketing research firm, announced today a series of personnel additions and promotions at their Entertainment Division in their Los Angeles and New York offices.

Jack MacKenzie, the head of the Los Angeles office, was promoted from Senior Vice President to Executive Vice President. Other personnel changes in the LA office include: Nathan Nanzer joins the firm as Managing Director and will focus on product and client development; and Lindsay Schutte joins as Director Client Services, Millennial Strategy Program.

Vicki Cohen, the head of the New York office, was promoted from Senior Vice President to Executive Vice President. Other personnel changes in the NY office include: Robin Nowatkowski joins as Manager of Research and; Mike Vorhaus was promoted from Managing Director to Senior Vice President; Dr. Maggie Zhang joins as Research Analyst; Martin Eichholz, Ph.D., was promoted from Executive Director, Research to Vice President; and Brian Hansen was promoted from Executive Director of Research and Consultation to Vice President.

Image Entertainment, an independent licensee, producer and distributor of home entertainment programming in North America, today announced that industry veteran Jeffrey Fink has joined the company as Chief Marketing Officer. Fink will report to David Borshell, Image’s Chief Operating Officer. Previously he served as Senior EVP, Home Entertainment for Miramax Films.

The Visual Effects Society (VES) has elected 15 new members to its Board of Directors, it was announced today by Eric Roth, Executive Director of the VES.  Concurrently, the new Board has elected Jeffrey A. Okun to a one year term as Chair.  Okun replaces outgoing Chair Carl Rosendahl, who held the position for three years.

The Playboy Entertainment Group has hired Todd Schwartz as vice president, programming for Playboy TV and promoted Michael Spierer to the position of vice president, programming and acquisitions, adult networks.  Both will report to Bryan Postlethwait, senior vice president, programming.
