Los Angeles - Fox has served Google's YouTube video-sharing service a subpoena demanding the identity of a user who uploaded episodes of the network's "24" and "The Simpsons."

First reported by Google Watch, the subpoena was granted by a U.S. District Court judge for the Northern District of California.

The YouTube user in question, "ECOtotal," uploaded episodes of "24" before their actual broadcast premieres; the user's account has been suspended by YouTube.

Fox also served a similar subpoena to LiveDigital, another video-sharing site.

The Hollywood Reporter noted that reports that the same TV episodes had appeared on file-sharing sites surfaced before Fox filed its subpoena requests.
