New Motion Buys Mobliss Assets; Forms Mobile Joint Venture With Index

Irvine, Calif. - New Motion, a provider of digital and mobile entertainment content, announced on Monday that it will acquire the mobile messaging assets of Mobliss, a unit of Japan's Index Corp., and launch an Asian-themed mobile entertainment portal in North America with Index Visual & Games.

Financial terms of the Mobliss acquisition were not disclosed.

Seattle-based Mobliss has published mobile games including "Family Feud" and "The New York Times Crossword."

New Motion's mobile portal venture with Index will initially be called The Mobile Entertainment Channel Corporation.

"These two deals allow us to significantly expand our service offerings and partner with a leading global player in the interactive games and mobile space," said Burton Katz, chief executive at Irvine, Calif.-based New Motion.

The company's other assets include RingtoneChannel.com and Bid4Prizes.com.
