National Geographic Ventures (NGV) President and CEO Tim Kelly announced today that William S. Weil has been named Chief Operating Officer of National Geographic Entertainment Group, which includes National Geographic's feature film, kids' entertainment and giant screen film business units. Weil joined National Geographic in 2002 and was most recently executive vice president of Strategy, Marketing and Entertainment Group. Prior to joining National Geographic, Weil was Senior Vice President of AG Interactive, and Vice President of Strategy and Business Development at Nickelodeon Networks.

Congressional Quarterly, the media company focused on public policy issues, has named Michael Riley as Editor of CQ Publications and Senior Vice President. Riley will officially join CQ in March, reporting to President and Editor-in-Chief Robert Merry. The company said Riley will direct more than 125 reporters, editors and researchers and lead the development and editorial strategy of CQ's print and online integration. Riley was formerly the editor of to The Roanoke Times.

Gannett Digital, the digital media arm of newspaper publisher Gannett, has named Abigail Horrigan as its Vice President of Marketing. New Frontier Media, a worldwide producer and distributor of general and adult-themed motion picture entertainment, today named Scott A. Piper as Chief Information Officer, a new position at the company. As CIO, Piper will lead the company's monetization of new and emerging delivery technologies. Prior Piper served in a variety of positions at EchoStar Communications Corporation, including acting CIO. Most recently, he was in charge of launching EchoStar Communications' broadband entertainment portal called DISHonline.

Terry Mackin, Executive Vice President of Hearst-Argyle Television, who has headed the company's digital media group in addition to other duties, will assume full-time responsibility for digital media. At the same time, Frank Biancuzzo, a former Hearst-Argyle Vice President for Marketing & Promotion who for the past five years has served as President and General Manager of WISN-TV, the Hearst-Argyle Television ABC station in Milwaukee, will return to Hearst-Argyle's New York headquarters as a Senior Vice President/Group Head.

In his new role, Biancuzzo and Philip Stolz, also a Hearst-Argyle Senior Vice President/Group Head, will share management oversight of substantially all of the company's 29 television stations. The new assignments, effective February 1, were announced today by David J. Barrett, president and chief executive officer of Hearst-Argyle Television, Inc. Biancuzzo's successor at WISN-TV is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Navarre Corporation, a publisher and distributor of physical and digital home entertainment and multimedia products, today announced the appointment of Cary L. Deacon, its Chief Executive Officer, to serve as a Director on the company's Board of Directors. Under the Company's bylaws, Deacon will serve as a Director until the next annual shareholders' meeting, at which time he will stand for election by the shareholders.

Ascent Media Group (AMG), a provider of creative and technical media services to the media and entertainment industries, has announced the appointment of Jose Royo as Chief Technology Officer. Previously Royo was Senior Vice President, Digital Services at the company. AMG has also named Richard Andrews as Senior Vice President/Chief Operating Officer for Global Media Services. Andrews most recently served as President of Technicolor Creative Services.

Myers previously served as the Senior Director of Network Operations and lead architect at Microsoft MSN, and most recently was the director of operations at Netli.

Fox Filmed Entertainment today announced the promotion of several individuals. Hutch Parker, whose Twentieth Century Fox (TCF) division delivered over $2 billion dollars worldwide box office for movies released in 2006, has been elevated to Vice Chairman, Twentieth Century Fox Film Group, adding oversight of Fox Animation to his stewardship of TCF. Previously, Parker served as President of TCF, a position which he has held since 2005. Parker joined Fox in 1995 as Senior Vice President, Production. He was named President of Production in 1999.

Emma Watts and Alex Young, who this year alone guided Night At The Museum and X-Men: The Last Stand, respectively, to over $400 million in worldwide box office each, are being named Co-Presidents of Production for TCF, reporting to Parker in his new role.

Debbie Liebling, who shepherded Borat to nearly $250 million in worldwide box office, will become President of Production for Fox’s new label Atomic, reporting to Peter Rice. Liebling is being promoted from her position as Executive Vice President of Production at TCF. She joined Fox in 2002 and prior to that was chief programming executive for Comedy Central’s original shows and served as co-producer for the feature film South Park: Bigger Longer & Uncut and worked as an executive at MTV and at Nickelodeon.

Vanessa Morrison, a 12-year Fox production veteran, will become President of Fox Animation. Morrison has supervised numerous CGI intensive and family oriented films, including the Garfield, Dr. Doolittle, and Cheaper by the Dozen series. The staff at Fox Animation, including Vice President John Cohen, will continue in place, reporting to Morrison. She will report to Parker.

In addition to Morrison replacing Chris Meledandri as President of Fox Animation and adding Parker’s oversight of the division, Fox announced two promotions at FFE’s CGI facility Blue Sky Studios. Brian Keane, currently General Manager and Chief Financial Officer, has been elevated to Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Bruce Anderson, currently serving as an associate producer on Fox Animation’s Horton Hears a Who, will retain his duties on the film and become General Manager of Blue Sky.
