Cambridge, Mass. - JumpTap, a provider of mobile search and advertising technology, has received a strategic investment of undisclosed amount from WPP, a London-based communications service firm.

The investment will provide clients of WPP companies -- collectively one of the world's largest buyers of media -- with access to JumpTap's services, the companies said.

Both parties will also partner to develop new techniques to target and profile customers through mobile phones.

Founded in 2003, Cambridge, Mass.-based JumpTap raised $22 million in its third round of venture capital last year, led by Valhalla Partners.
