NewScientist: Patent Filed for Personal TV Censor Software

London - An inventor in Salt Lake City, Utah has submitted a patent application for a personal TV censor that works with computers connected to personal video recorders, NewScientist.com reported. The system described in the patent monitors the electronic program guide on a digital video recorder and closed-captioning text that accompanies programs. Users can then input specific terms, like "damn" or "bitch" or "Pamela Anderson," and the system would either block the entire program, or briefly mute the sound in the program.
