San Francisco - EMI's Capitol Records has been ordered by a federal judge to pay the legal fees of a woman it sued for copyright infringement over music file-sharing, after the case against her was dismissed last summer, Wired News reported.
The label sued Oklahoma resident and mother Debbie Foster as a "contributory infringer," offering evidence that her name was on the Internet account tied to the alleged infringements -- presumably songs downloaded by her children.
Foster's attorney, Marilyn Barringer Thomson, told Wired News that the label will likely owe Foster more than $50,000 in legal fees.
