Alviso, Calif. - TiVo announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with Amazon.com, to enable TiVo users to rent and purchase movies and TV shows from Amazon's Unbox video download service and watch them on their televisions.

The Amazon Unbox on TiVo service is currently in beta testing, and will soon be available on the more than 1.5 million broadband-ready TiVo boxes in consumers' homes.

Launched in September, Amazon's Unbox service offers movies and TV shows from partners including CBS, Fox, Lionsgate, Paramount, Universal Studios Home Entertainment and Warner Bros. Entertainment.

TiVo owners using the Amazon service will pay $1.99 to download TV shows, and between $9.99 and $14.99 for most movies; users will also be able to rent movies on the service, starting at $1.99.
