"Social Search" Firm Searchles Raises Funds, Launches New Features

Washington - Searchles, a developer of a social search technology, said on Thursday that it has raised an undisclosed amount in its second round of angel funding.

The company said that its original anonymous investors led the round, which also included participation from director Mark Walsh, the founder and managing partner of Ruxton Ventures. Walsh, previously the president and CEO of VerticalNet and a senior vice president at AOL, joined the company's board in December.

Searchles, an evolution of the search engine Dumbfind, also unveiled several new group management and collaboration features.

Searchles allows users to develop personal filtering features, such as tags and keywords, aimed at delivering more precise, relevant search results. The technology also suggests other content related to a user's interests.
