Jim Samples, General Manager of Cartoon Network, Friday resigned under pressure following a promotional fiasco that snarled traffic in Boston and cost parent Turner Broadcasting $2 million to settle. A Turner spokeswoman declined to comment on whether Samples was forced to resign. Until a new head of the network is announced, the senior team members will report directly to Mark Lazarus, President of Turner Entertainment Group.

WOWIO, a next-generation ebookstore, has announced the appointment of Dr. David B. Palumbo as Chief Executive Officer. Prior to joining WOWIO, Palumbo held executive leadership positions at Human Code, Inc., Powered, Inc., and Sapient Corporation, among others, as well as higher education positions at the University of Houston-Clear Lake and Arizona State University.
