New York - Sportsvite, an online social network for recreational athletes, teams and leagues, announced on Friday that it has raised $2 million in its first round of venture capital financing, from Grace Drive Management.

New York-based Sportsvite lets users create profiles that detail their sports and recreational activities, and also allows teams and leagues to organize themselves online.

The site was designated an Official Honoree at the 2006 Webby Awards.

"The Sportsvite community has grown rapidly without an investment in marketing," said Sportsvite co-founder and Vinodh Bhat. "This funding will help us to actively target millions of athletes worldwide who play sports."
