Palo Alto, Calif. - Azureus, a BitTorrent-based peer-to-peer file-sharing application, announced on Monday that it has signed an agreement with Liberty Media's Starz, to distribute Starz video content on its Zudeo file-sharing network.

Under the deal, Starz will make anime, comedy, sci-fi and horror content available on Azureus later this year, including series like "Street Fighter Alpha," "Ghost in the Shell" and "Astroboy."

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Azureus launched in December, when it announced its first content partnership with BBC Worldwide. The company says its technology allows content providers to more cost-efficiently distribute large media files like video and games in high-definition or DVD-quality over the Internet.

The Azureus peer-to-peer application has been downloaded more than 130 million times.
