Stress On Valentine’s Day and The Imbalanced Status Of Love Online

If you are a man looking for a female Valentine, your best bet is Love Access, which comprised 87.4 percent female visitors last week. Unfortunately the status of online dating for women does not look that good.

The only dating sites with really high percentages of male visitors are gay online dating websites including ManHunt.com, Adam4Adam.com, and Gay.com. Also ranking high among male visitors were websites focused on matching American men with foreign brides, such as AnastatiaWeb.com and FilipinaHeart.com and Globaladies.com.

Discouraged American women have been known to turn to the popular Don't Date Him Girl!, a website where women can post warnings about bad experiences with strange men they met online.

"Gender differences are evident everywhere online," says LeeAnn Prescott, director of research at Hitwise who ran the data.
"While the larger dating websites have more equal male/female visitor ratios, this data proves that online dating sites must work harder to provide a critical mass and balance of members in order to attract additional singles."

Fortunately for those ladies with no luck with men online, Cory Treffiletti at MediaPost is there to offer some options for expressing your love on Valentines day:

First there is Dogster. This site allows people to create profiles for their dogs and express their love for man's best friend. Then of course there is Catster for the feline members of your family. Moreover, there are other kinds of love that can be shared at Pasta Love, Cheese Love, New York Love, Sushi Love, Wine Love.

And speaking of cheesy things, Treffiletti also offers up a Valentine’s greeting:

“What's most important is that you take the time today to sit back and say "I love you" to someone. This Hallmark holiday is one that polarizes people one way or the other, but all in all is still a great, uplifting mark on the calendar.”

Pleeaaase. V-Day just stresses people out. It might just be my male perpective on things, but there seem to be girls that agree:

"Valentine's Day sucks for women, too. Just because there's chocolate doesn't mean it still doesn't suck. Lots of us don't have dates and have to buy our own f***ing chocolate anyhow. And then we just get fatter than we already are. So it just sucks. Thanks for listening."
