San Francisco - Sling Media, a developer of "place-shifting" technology that lets users access their premium home TV channels and recorded programs while on the go from any Internet-connected device, has been served a patent lawsuit by the inventor of a wireless speaker system, CNET News.com reported on Thursday.

Stuart Meshon was awarded a patent on technology that transmits audio signals from a home audio source to a remote speaker via a wireless telephone network.

Meshon says he first notified Sling Media of his belief the company was violating his patent in a letter dated March 4, 2005.

"We are supremely confident in our position that the suit is totally without merit," Jason Krikorian, co-founder and senior vice president of business development for Sling Media, told News.com.
