Search Provider Local.com Gets $8 Million from Heart Interactive Media

Irvine, Calif. - Local.com, a search engine focused on local businesses, jobs and other information, announced that it has received an $8 million private placement, from publisher Hearst Corporation's Hearst Interactive Media, and Greenway Capital.

Irvine, Calif.-based Local.com claims 10 million monthly visitors to its site, which provides users with targeted, relevant local search results for businesses -- including user reviews, website links, maps and driving directions.

The company will use the proceeds for general working capital and strategic initiatives.
