ROO Group to Acquire P2P Service Wurld Media for $10 Million

New York - ROO Group, a provider of online video distribution services, announced on Tuesday that it will acquire the assets of Wurld Media, a legitimate peer-to-peer media distribution service, for up to $10 million.

Founded in 1999, New York-based Wurld Media has signed licensing deals to distribute movies, TV shows, music and games from Fox, Warner Bros., Universal, Sony, EMI, Atari and Activision via its Peer Impact peer-to-peer network.

New York-based ROO distributes video online for customers including News Corp., Verizon and TheStreet.com.

"The acquisition of the technology and solutions from Wurld Media will enable our existing and future clients to engage their audiences at every digital touchpoint including online, mobile and IPTV in a market where enhanced distribution capability is leading the way on a global bases," said ROO CEO Robert Petty.
