New York - AOL is in talks to acquire Third Screen Media, a developer of mobile phone advertising technology, in a deal that could be worth up to $80 million, The Wall Street Journal reported on Monday, citing unnamed sources.

Based in Boston, the almost four-year-old company offers a mobile ad network and Web-based mobile ad management and delivery platform. Third Screen Media's customers include MSNBC and ad agency giant Universal McCann.

The Journal reported that AOL has been negotiating with the company since early this year, but added that the deal may still fall through.
