Washington - Hoping to gain more support for its proposed $13 billion merger with rival Sirius, XM Satellite Radio on Friday issued a public statement assuring its 7.6 million subscribers that their existing radios will continue to work once the deal is completed.

In an open letter published in Friday's USA Today, the company wrote, "As long as you are an XM subscriber, your XM radio will continue to receive XM's great programming. Following the merger, XM expects that the existing radios will be able to receive a mix of programming from both services."

XM also said its most popular programming -- such as Major League Baseball, Oprah & Friends, Bob Dylan and Opie & Anthony -- won't be interrupted by the merger.

"In the future, we will be able to offer the best of both companies' programming," the company said.

XM also said that it has launched a new section on its website dedicated to the consumer input and updates related to the merger.
