Beijing - Chinese software developer CDC Corp. announced on Monday that its CDC Games unit has expanded into online games with the formation of CDC Games Studio, a new development unit that will receive up to $100 million in funding.

The company in August announced an online game developer partner program that would receive up to $20 million in investments; the new CDC Games Studio will continue to place strategic investments with emerging game developers.

"We've established CDC Games as a leading publisher of online games in China and our goal is to leverage that foundation to become a leading, global developer of online games," said CDC Games CEO Xiaowei Chen.

The company said that it has already partnered with Korean game developer Gorilla Banana, and China-based Possibility Space.

CDC Games' online and mobile game titles, including "Yulgang," claim 45 million registered users in China.
