Arlington, Va. - Clearspring Technologies, a provider of syndication services for widgets -- or small applications that can be embedded on Web pages to personalize or customize them -- announced on Tuesday that it has raised $5.5 million in its second round of financing.

The round was led by Novak Biddle Venture Partners' Phil Bronner and ZG Ventures' Miles Gilburne, with participation from Mark Jung, Steve Case and Ted Leonsis.

"Clearspring is attracting top-tier content creators to widgets by simplifying the development process and delivering real-time analytics that demonstrate each campaign's value to the bottom line," said Jung.

The company said it currently serving nearly 30 million widgets each day. Customers include the NBA and Universal Pictures.
