Beijing - UUSee, a provider of Internet TV distribution services in China, announced on Wednesday that it has raised $23.5 million in a new round of venture capital financing, led by Draper Fisher Jurvetson Growth Fund and Highland Capital Partners.

New investor Steamboat Ventures, and previous investors Sequoia Capital China and SIG also participated.

Beijing-based UUSee has partnerships with China's largest broadcaster (CCTV) and satellite operator (CSAT), as well as Beijing TV, and broadcasts nearly 60 channels of live TV programming and 350 channels of commercial video content over the Internet.

Some 25 regional broadband portals offer UUSee's broadband video, including China Telecom and China NetCom. UUSee claims 36 million registered users.

"This financing represents a further endorsement in our progress to date and the very large market opportunity that has emerged for broadband media in China," said UUSee co-founder and CEO Zhu Li.

The company said it is working with programmers and broadcasters to deliver new interactive features, like voting, text-messaging and rich media ads.
