Portland, Ore. - Platial, a free service that lets users aggregate stories, reviews and multimedia and combine them with online maps, announced that it has raised $2.4 million in its first round of venture capital financing.

Participants included new investor KeyNote Ventures, and previous investors Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Omidyar Network, Ram Shriram, Ron Conway and others.

Portland, Ore.-based Platial's MapKit application uses the Google Maps open api to allow anyone to map photos, video, feeds, stories, neighborhoods or travel, and then add their map to a website, blog or social network profile.
