Cambridge, England - Short Fuze, the developer of a machinima (3D movie) engine, announced on Monday that it has raised $2 million in its first round of venture capital financing, co-led by Create Partners and IQ Capital Partners.

The company previously raised seed financing in October 2005.

Cambridge, U.K.-based Short Fuze plans to release its Moviestorm machinima engine in June 2007.

"People are making movies with 'The Movies' and 'The Sims', but these are still games, whose tools and features are not specifically designed for use by film-makers," said Short Fuze technical director Dave Lloyd.

"People are telling us that although they like the games, mainly they just want to make movies. Moviestorm gives the user more freedom by not having to follow pathways laid down by the game."
