Mountain View, Calif. - Google has acquired Adscape, a provider of in-game advertising, according to a note on the Google blog.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, although reports on the potential deal published last month quoted sources who said Google would pay $23 million for the company.

Founded in 2002, San Francisco-based Adscape raised $3.2 million in February 2006, but so far has not announced any video game publisher partners.

"In-game advertising is an area where we believe Google could add a lot of value to users, advertisers and publishers," the company wrote on its blog.

"Adscape Media's technology and talented team are a great addition to Google's current advertising solutions for advertisers and publishers."

Google added that it has "been in discussions with many in the game development community and hope to partner with both large and small game publishing companies."
