Los Angeles - Liberty Media's Starz Entertainment cable TV network has sued Disney's Buena Vista Television unit, over the sale of Disney movies on Web services like iTunes and Wal-Mart Downloads for which Starz claims it held an exclusive license, Reuters reported on Thursday.

Starz alleges in its suit that a 2005 deal between the companies gave it exclusive Internet distribution rights for a certain period on some titles, including "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" -- which Starz says the Disney unit breached by offering the movies on iTunes and elsewhere.

Starz operates its own subscription-based movie download service, called Vongo; the company said it has paid over $1 billion for exclusive rights to Disney movies since 1993.
