Louisiana Cancels Warrants for Execs at U.K.-based Sportingbet

London - Sportingbet, a U.K.-based Internet gambling firm that saw its CEO arrested in New York last year -- under a warrant issued in Louisiana -- announced that it has resolved the matter with the St. Landry District Attorney in Louisiana, which has cancelled all warrants against current and former Sportingbet officers.

Former Sportingbet CEO Peter Dicks was arrested last September in New York, based on charges of alleged illegal online gambling activities filed in Louisiana.

But New York authorities refused to extradite him to Louisiana and instead released him.

Dicks then resigned as CEO of Sportingbet, which promptly shut down its U.S.-facing Internet gambling business in October 2006 -- in preparation for the enactment of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act.
