PacketVideo Acquires Mobile DRM, Music Developer SDC

Orlando, Fla. - PacketVideo, a unit of NextWave Wireless that develops mobile multimedia distribution technology, announced on Tuesday that it has acquired Switzerland-based SDC, a developer of mobile digital rights management and a Java-based mobile music application.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

San Diego-based PacketVideo's software is used on services including Verizon's V CAST, NTT DoCoMo's FOMA, and Orange's Orange World.

SDC's music delivery application is supported by platforms including Musiwave, WiderThan and Siemens, and has been deployed by 18 mobile networks, including T-Mobile, O2, SFR, Telus and Hutchinson 3.
