Washington - The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has proposed a $100,000 fine against Amp'd Mobile, for failing to protect its customers' calling records, the Associated Press reported.

While Amp'd told the FCC in February that it is protecting its customers' records, the FCC has given the company 30 days to provide more information on its procedures in order to avoid the fine.

"Consumers are increasingly concerned about the security of their sensitive, personal data that they must entrust to their various service providers, whether they are financial institutions or telephone companies," the FCC said.

In addition to Los Angeles-based Amp'd, whose entertainment-focused mobile service is aimed at the youth market, the FCC also targeted other providers, including CTC Communications and Easterbroke Cellular, with similar fines related to consumer privacy.

AT&T and Alltel paid FCC fines last year to settle related complaints.
