Palo Alto, Calif. - Venture capital firm Hercules Technology Growth Capital announced that it has provided $1 million each to two social networking ventures -- one being San Francisco-based Wallop, and the other a stealth-mode company based in Los Angeles.

Wallop, which was spun out of Microsoft's research unit, is an invitation-only social network that features a marketplace where members can purchase ready-made interactive graphics and features to customize their profiles.

The company raised $10 million in its second round of funding last year.

Palo Alto, Calif.-based Hercules said the Los Angeles-based social networking start-up it funded is a "multimedia networking community for music and pop culture."
