New York - Nintendo's Wii video game console outsold both Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's PlayStation 3 in the U.S. during February, according to sales data from market research firm NPD Group cited by Reuters.

The Wii sold 335,000 units in February, nearly more than the 228,000 Xbox 360's and 127,000 PlayStation 3's sold combined.

To date, though, Microsoft's head start in the current generation console race puts it on top in overall sales, with 5 million units, compared to 1.86 million for the Wii and 1.1 million for the PlayStation 3.

Games for the Xbox 360 took six of the top ten sales spots during February, while Wii games represented three spots -- and the PlayStation 3 didn't even figure in the top ten, as "Guitar Hero" for the older PlayStation 2 took tenth place.
