San Francisco - World Golf Tour, the developer of an online multiplayer golf game, announced on Tuesday that it has raised an undisclosed sum in its first round of venture capital financing, led by Battery Ventures.

San Francisco-based World Golf Tour has developed what it says is the most photo-realistic online golf experience, offering players multiple courses and the ability to enter tournaments with real-world prizes.

The company's management team includes JF Prata, who previously served as vice president of product development at Electronic Arts, and COO of Maxis and Westwood Studios.
