YouTube to Help Thailand Block Monarchy-Mocking VideosAuthored by Mark Hefflinger on April 10, 2007 - 3:59pm.
Bangkok - Google's YouTube is working with Thailand to block access to videos that mock the country's beloved monarch, Reuters reported. Last week, Thailand blocked the entire YouTube site after a user posted a crude video lampooning the country's King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Since the account of the user who created that video was closed, several more offensive videos have appeared. "[YouTube] said a more effective way would be to block certain pages not to be seen in Thailand," Sitthichai Pookaiyaudom, Thailand's communications minister, told Reuters. "It will be a few days before we lift the ban on the entire site."
