Philadelphia - Comcast, the nation's largest cable TV provider, announced on Wednesday that it will acquire Fandango, a movie showtimes and ticketing site that claims 4-5 million visitors per month.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Fandango has long-term agreements with a number of theater chains to provide online ticket sales.

Comcast plans to offer Fandango's services on a new site called Fancast.com, which when it launches this summer will allow consumers to search, discover and manage entertainment across platforms including TV, computers, DVDs and wireless services.

Fandango will become part of Comcast Interactive Media, while remaining headquartered in Los Angeles and led by CEO Chuck Davis.

"Fandango is one of the strongest entertainment brands online as well as a dynamic, profitable business with a superb management team and rapidly growing advertising revenue," said Comcast Interactive Media president Amy Banse.

"Adding Fandango to Comcast Interactive Media and creating Fancast.com will enable us to leverage our combined assets to offer consumers an outstanding entertainment experience."
