MySpace Blocks Photobucket Videos; Images Remain Intact

Los Angeles - News Corp.'s MySpace has taken steps to prevent its users from uploading videos hosted by Photobucket, which also hosts many of the images posted by MySpace users and claims some 40 million users, TechCrunch reported.

While Photobucket videos and remixes already posted on MySpace also no longer appear on MySpace users' pages, the block is not affecting photos hosted on Photobucket.

"We are not happy about this and we're pretty sure you're not happy either," Photobucket said in a company blog post.

"We believe that by limiting your ability to personalize your pages with content from any source, MySpace is contradicting the very belief of personal and social media."

MySpace has previously blocked third-party content, including widgets, citing terms of use violations and other reasons. Content from sites including Revver, Stickam and Vidilife can no longer be posted on MySpace.

Photobucket, which claims its users now upload 50,000 videos a day to its site, has encouraged its users to contact MySpace to complain.
